Champ Camp

Two years ago I put out 'The People's Champ' EP (and now it's time to go again)

Two years is a long time, but boy time flies when you're having fun!

In mid 2022, after my long term relationship broke down, I saw an opportunity to rebuild myself.

I had the time and space to fall in love with who I am.

To find the self-love I had been frantically avoiding for so long.

I took up boxing, started training hard, eventually had a fight. Through that process I gained so many skills and frames that I have since embodied as part of me.

  • Discipline
  • Self-belief
  • Conviction
  • Confidence
  • Seriousness
  • Lightheartedness

I found the gears that I had always craved.

In mid 2023 I started putting those ideas and feelings into my lyrics, and after months of crafting I had an EP.

The People's Champ (TPC) was born.

This project embrace the identity that I had always craved and told the story of a guy who was not necessarily a champion of anything but himself.

Everyone has the potential to become a champ, this was my way of becoming one to myself.

There were so many positives:

  1. I wrote with confidence
  2. I played shows with conviction
  3. I put on a launch show that performed well
  4. I had cover art made that captured the moment
  5. I engaged friends, newbies and legends throughout the project
  6. I curated a 7 minute cypher track with some of the best up and coming talent in the country

All in all, I was satisfied, but not finished.

Which brings us to now...

You may have noticed a title change to this newsletter, and if you tuned in last week then you already know the title of the next project.

My next EP is called: Champ Camp

I can finally announce today that is has 6 tracks, the music is finished and the cover art is almost done.

Release date pending but likely mid September.

The reason I tell the backstory for TPC is because Champ Camp is the 2nd instalment in what will be a trilogy of projects.

This next release will be the natural progression from TPC.

In every sense.

And the appropriate prelude to the third release next year.

A higher quality of music, production, art, content and collaboration. Everything is much more intentional and the result will be undeniable, if only for myself.

If you haven't listened to TPC yet, you can do that here.

Do yourself a favour, get a feel for where I have come from before you move into the next release.

Next week I will announce a release date and reveal the cover art!

Aight gang that's it from me!

Keep fighting,

Sav.

Sunday Sparring Life, Love, Loss and New Music (July Update) Hey gang Happy Sunday! There's a lot of moving parts to my life right now. Some good, some great, but all beautiful and necessary. Rather than bring you a big idea or something to chew on, I think a few updates from the world of Sav are required. So here they are (Read to end to receive a little surprise as number 4 is guaranteed to be your favourite): One: On My Health No beating around the bush, I was drinking way too much...

Sunday Sparring Relationships are like bank accounts (The art of reciprocity) Disclaimer: Take this post with a grain of salt because I have never saved for anything in my entire life, but based on my understanding of banks/finances, alongside how my more fiscally responsible friends speak, I am going to make a few assumptions along the way. I was having a nice quiet Sunday morning with my partner recently. Sitting down for a hearty home cooked breakfast, we began philosophising. Eventually...
