I get knocked down... but I get up again?

Sunday Sparring

I get knocked down... but I get up again?

We all get knocked down.

That’s part of the gig of being human.

But it’s not so much a knock as it is an opportunity to problem solve.

Ahhh… the reframe.

Naturally, we fall into 2 categories:

  1. Problem solvers
  2. Problem avoiders

They are not mutually exclusive, but they can.

Recently I had been involved in some problem avoidance, and let me tell you… I can be bloody good at it when I want to be!!

After a little shake-up and a…

• Health scare

• Writing session

• Powerful conversation

• Full-body gym demolition

I was locked in again.

Hopefully for a very very long time.

Locked in this constant flux that pings back and forth on the spectrum that includes…

“It’s all good we got this baby lesgoooo”

and

“Fuck, fuck, shit, fuck, wtf, shitfuck!”

It can be challenging at times, sure, but that’s the job.

It’s called living.

A recent episode of Diary of a CEO podcast saw Dr. Alok Kanojia (Dr. K) make a fascinating point.

“If you’re emotions are dulled by drugs, technology, pornography or watching serial killer shows… you will never change who you are. The neuroscience of your identity and development requires emotional experience.”

I was avoiding my problems and more importantly, avoiding my emotions.

In this place I cannot change.

My development as a man and human being is something I am very proud of, but it is an ongoing process.

Which means…

  1. The work doesn’t stop
  2. I need to continue to learn
  3. Continue application of knowledge
  4. Not find ways to dull myself from emotion

I decided to keep things simple this morning.

Pick one easily attainable goal and achieve it as a matter of life and death.

The goal…

Set my alarm for 7am and get up at that time.

Sounds basic I know.

But that one simple act this morning gave me confidence that I was back in control.

→ Confidence is a fuel source.

With my butt firmly back in the driver’s seat, I can get back to my:

• Work

• Writing

• Training

• Creating

All the things that fill up my soul

Because and this is so important to remind myself… it was a knockdown, not a knockout.

Today, I am back in the ring, ready to fight.

With gratitude,

Sav.

Champ Camp Two years ago I put out 'The People's Champ' EP (and now it's time to go again) Two years is a long time, but boy time flies when you're having fun! In mid 2022, after my long term relationship broke down, I saw an opportunity to rebuild myself. I had the time and space to fall in love with who I am. To find the self-love I had been frantically avoiding for so long. I took up boxing, started training hard, eventually had a fight. Through that process I gained so many skills and...
